Het Amerikaanse platteland vormt het decor voor The Eyes of My Mother, een sfeervolle arthouse-productie die The Night of the Hunter (1955) en Psycho (1960) samenbrengt. Getraumatiseerd door een gebeurtenis uit haar jeugd gaat de instabiele Francisca (Kika Magalhaes) als een modern day Norman Bates ongewenste indringers te lijf. Dit debuut van Nicolas Pesce slaagt door prachtige zwart-witfotografie en een goede dosis onderhuidse spanning.
