De rockscene kent aardig wat artiesten die al decennialang meegaan, maar er ogen er weinig zo onverwoestbaar als Bruce Springsteen. Vooruit, ‘The Boss’ moet inmiddels wel extra oppassen dat hij geen podiumtreetje mist, maar zeker sinds de coronastop blijven zijn beruchte marathonconcerten zich gedwee opstapelen. De routineuze documentaire Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band stipt aan waar het wandelende icoon zijn motivatie vandaan blijft halen. Verdiende bijrollen zijn daarbij weggelegd voor de muzikanten die de zanger al sinds de jaren zeventig vergezellen.
Dinsdag 24 mei. Een unieke gebeurtenis: soundtrack-koning Hans Zimmer doet op zijn eerste live-tour Rotterdam aan voor een concert dat alle hoogtepunten uit zijn oeuvre beslaat. Ahoy is (terecht) uitverkocht; de man genereerde in de afgelopen 25 jaar de scores voor een enorme hoeveelheid blockbusters, animatiefilms en moderne klassiekers. Voor mij was dit een niet te missen manifestatie. Niet alleen is het zo dat zijn scores stuk voor stuk hoogtepunten zijn (Gladiator, the Dark Knight, Inception, Interstellar, om er maar een paar te noemen), ze zijn ook nog eens de muzikale verrijkingen bij een aantal persoonlijke filmfavorieten.
