De Oost (2020) baarde opzien en imponeerde op filmisch vlak, maar zorgde door zijn rigoureuze fictie (de ontwikkeling van een heus lespakket ten spijt) bovenal voor een gespannen respons vanuit de veteranengemeenschap. Ook Indië Verloren… (premièretitel Selling a Colonial War) ontmantelt het Nederlandse politieke en militaire ingrijpen op de archipel, maar staart zich gelukkig niet blind op het aanwakkeren van een nationaal schuldcomplex.
In 1975 stond Angola op de drempel van onafhankelijkheid, ware het niet dat een (Koude) burgeroorlog het zicht op de vertrekkende Portugezen vertroebelde. Een fel conflict tussen de communistisch geïnspireerde éénpartijstaat MPLA en haar politiek-ideologische tegenhanger [FNLA] zou nog decennia voortduren. Another Day of Life concentreert zich op die eerste maanden van militaire chaos, als de Poolse journalist Ryszard Kapuściński (1932-2007) met gevaar voor eigen leven door het verschroeide binnenland reist. Regisseurs Raúl De La Fuente en Damian Nenow vermengen verbluffende animatie, archiefbeelden en eigentijdse interviews.
