Met nog amper twee weken te gaan tot de Olympische Winterspelen van Milaan weet Netflix zijn amusement perfect te timen. De Canadese boekverfilming Finding Her Edge is met haar jeugdige cast en romantische intriges op maat gemaakt voor een gevoelig tienerpubliek. En juist daarom is het fijn dat het verhaal zich eens niét afspeelt in een typische schoolomgeving. Op de eliteacademie van een voormalig topschaatser moeten zijn getalenteerde dochters de eer van de familie hoog zien te houden.
Luttele weken na de Netflix-release van het uitstekend ontvangen Untamed komt hoofdrolspeler Eric Bana zowaar nóg eens online voorbij. Dat Jane Harper’s Force of Nature vooralsnog lang niet zoveel aandacht heeft gekregen als de miniserie (de Australische bioscooprelease dateert al van begin 2024), ligt helaas niet alleen aan het label van de toonaangevende streamingdienst. In het zog van voorganger The Dry, eveneens met Bana op het affiche, oogt deze vervolgthriller futlozer en haastiger uitgewerkt.
