Soldaten zijn pionnen in een spel zonder console. En dus slaan toeval en willekeur om de haverklap toe. In Samuel Maoz’ debuutfilm Lebanon (2009) en des te meer in het ontstellende Foxtrot. De dans met leven en dood krijgt in dit Israëlische drama een uniek filmisch karakter.
Cyclische tijd, gebeurtenissen die zich herhalen, verwarrende romances, protagonisten wier schijnbare waanbeelden niet geloofd worden. De romantische thriller 2:22 staat op de schouders van films als Groundhog Day (1993), Source Code (2011), Edge of Tomorrow (2014) en Déjà Vu (2006). Geliefde premissen garanderen echter geen goede films, zo bewijst ook dit project van Paul Currie (One Perfect Day).
